About the Book
Labour Reforms: A Catalyst for Viksit Bharat 2047
This book presents labour reform not just as a legal exercise, but as a strategic pillar of India’s developmental vision.
Moving beyond traditional section-wise interpretation of statutes, it situates labour governance within the broader context of:
- Economic growth and productivity
- Institutional and regulatory reforms
- Formalisation of employment
- Social protection and inclusivity
- The future of work in a dynamic economy
The book traces the historical evolution of labour laws in India and examines the rationale behind consolidation into Labour Codes. It carefully explores the balance between flexibility for businesses and security for workers—one of the most critical debates in modern policy frameworks.
By connecting labour policy with competitiveness, federalism, and long-term national goals, the book positions reforms as instruments of nation-building rather than isolated legislative changes.
